Aerides, the Tower of the Winds in the Roman Agora in Athens, is the Worlds first meteorological station. This beautiful blue Silk Square is dedicated to the Winds. Its center piece features a drawing of the weather vane-like Triton that indicated the wind direction in Antiquity, surrounded by the eight wind deities as depicted on the tower's frieze: Boreas (N), Kaikias (NE), Apeliotes (E), Eurus (SE), Notus (S), Livas (SW), Zephyrus (W), and Skiron (NW). Patterns of clouds, compasses and Aiulus, God of the Winds, decorate the outer part of the square.
